Coble, Executive Director, The Hospice Foundation – a supporting organization to Hospice & Palliative CareCenter\n \nJohn Hunt, Blue Rock Wealth Management; Board Chair, The Hospice Foundation\n \n \n \nMelissa Perrell Phipps, JD\n \nVP and Patient Advocacy Officer, Novant Health\n \nMelissa Perrell Phipps is Vice President and Patient Advocacy Officer for Novant Health.  She is a licensed attorney and previously served as Assistant General Counsel for Novant Health from 1998-2015.  Her legal practice was concentrated on patient care, with a particular emphasis on patient rights.  In her new role, she has operational oversight for areas that impact the patient experience, including guest and volunteer services, responding to complaints and grievances, interpreter services, patient education, bioethics, spiritual care and integrative arts.  She also leads Novant Health’s end-of-life transformation efforts and was a key architect in developing Choices and Champions™, Novant Health’s platform to transform how the organization delivers end-of-life care. \n \nMelissa’s passion in patient advocacy stems from personal experiences with significant hearing impairment, as a breast cancer survivor, and as a family member of those struggling with mental health issues and addiction. \n \nShe obtained a BA in Journalism and JD with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. \n \n \n
