This session will help participants to: \n Define identity theft and security breach Understand how to respond to identity theft and/or security breaches Identify types of breaches and how to respond Identify common scams  Identify the steps clients can take to protect themselves \nBio:\n \nBefore starting with the Public Protection Section in May 2017, Hugh Harris recently served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division for the NC Dept. of Justice, where he was responsible for representing the State of North Carolina and North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein in unfair and deceptive trade practice violations.  He received a B.S. degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and a Law Degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. He started as an Assistant Public Defender litigating criminal cases in Buncombe County and eventually relocated and joined the Orange/Chatham County Public Defender’s Office.  He moved on to practice civil litigation at a medium sized law firm and then opened his own law firm.  After having a solo practice, he joined the North Carolina Department of Justice as an Assistant Attorney General representing North Carolina state agencies in workers compensation cases.  In February 2011, he accepted a position as Director of the Claims Section with the North Carolina Industrial Commission.  In January 2014, he accepted a position as an Assistant Attorney General in the North Carolina Department of Justice-Consumer Protection Division.\n  \n\n   \nHugh A.
